Zambian Poet, Rapper, Singer and Songwriter “Sampa The Great” (Sampa Tembo) was raised in Botswana, and at the age of 22 she moved to Sydney, Australia to further her musical studies, where she has managed to kick stage her career with tremendous success.

Sampa The Great sights music as language of the soul, transcending borders and acting an agent for positive change. Her upbringing, separating from her peers in Botswana, moving away from her family & living in a foreign country all inform her lyrics.

In 2015, Sampa made her debut release “The Great Mixtape”, produced by Sydney’s Dave Godriguez, much to a warm reception by her fans; it portrays her artistic values and mastery of poetry that engages the listener’s soul. After the success of The Great Mixtape, Sampa dropped 3 track EP “HERoes Act 2” featuring Grammy Award RnB singer Estelle and Los Angeles Producer Rahki.

Sampa The Great musical influences include Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill, Thandiswa Mazwai, Asa Nneka, African Folk Music and Mos Def.

Among her career highlights is when she was chosen to support Kendrick Lamar, Thundercat, Hiatus Kaiyote, Ibeyi, Simz and Fat Freddy’s Drop along with her sold out headline shows and festival slots at Golden Pains, Sugar Maountain, WOMAD & VIVID Live.

Late 2017, saw Sampa released “Birds And The Bee9” featuring Nicole Gumbe, Syreneyyiscreamy, Mwanje Tembo and more.
