The audacious Nigerian singer has released a hot new single ‘49-99’. The latest single follows her recent global recording deal with Universal Music Group.
Tiwa who appeared on Beyonce’s much touted ‘Lion King: The Gift’ does not seem to be taking chances and is out to assert her supremacy in the global music sphere with her latest release.
The singer picks off the track with ‘‘Forty-nine sitting, ninety-nine standing’, a phrase from Fela Kuti’s top hit ‘Shuffering & Shmilling’ (1978), before outlining the theme of the song; addressing poverty and how much we go through chasing for money & riches. The single is accompanied by an awesome smoke-out-visuals, full of symbolism, the singer’s vibrant performance in the video evokes pulsating artistic scenes akin to cinematic awe.
