The Hang: Gregory Porter Introduces His Personal Podcast

The man who is among prominent names that have brought jazz back to the mainstream world of music has unveiled his new personal project. Dubbed ‘Gregory Porter, The Hang’.

The new podcast will feature his invited friends in an intimate setting to talk about music, art, family and food, celebrity mishaps and facing out discrimination. The invites in these sessions will range from musicians, actors and directors.

‘The Hang’ premier episode will air on August 8 and subsequent episode lined up for release every week. Jeff Goldblum, the American actor and musician will be the first guest on the show according to the teaser available on YouTube. The actor is heard talking about his fetish for hands in the snippet that hints at discussions that would center on everything about the guests.

The Grammy Award Winner is credited among acts such as Kamasi Washington who have brought jazz music back to life in the contemporary music world. The singer has achieved tremendous success since he rose to acclaim around 2010s with his music; a touch of jazz, soul and gospel. The singer is a student of jazz saxaphonist, composer and pianist Kamau Kenyatta. His debut album ‘Water’ was released in 2010 followed by ‘Be Good’ which came two years later. In 2013 the singer released ‘Liquid Spirit’ which was a huge success scooping the 2014 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Album.

‘Take Me to the Alley’ came later on in 2016 the same year he released his concert album ‘Live in Berlin’. He later released ‘Nat King Cole & Me’ an album that pays tribute to an artist who has been so influential in his music. ‘One Night Only: Live at the Royal Albert Hall’ another concert album arrived in 2018.
