The duo that is Apollo Brown and Skyzoo has released a new single, “A Couple Dollars” which is the second track off their upcoming album and this time round they have enlisted the help of Joell Ortiz a special guest from Slaughterhouse.
The single which debuted on Complex is a generally about Skyzoo’s perspectives on his personal experiences from his hood, a track which he describes as his personal favorite.
“This record is about how those things come about, and how they started in the first place, dating back 400+ years ago, as pointed out in the second verse. This song stands as another testament to who, what, when, where and why as far as how it is in my neighborhood”, Skyzoo describes the single
According to Ortiz, the single provided a platform for him to tell the story of his childhood, and how far he has come.
The two MCs trade stories from the past in exemplary fashion on Apollo’s signature crackling beat, riding on captivating violin strand throughout the over 4 minutes track.
Apollo Brown & Skyzoo’s upcoming album “The Easy Truth” is due for release September 30, delatiling themes from police brutality, ambitions. According to promo material the album will be tales through Skyzoo’s eyes hinged on truth.
