Rapsody is an artist that most of us have witnessed thrive, from

around 2010 ‘Return of the B-Girl’ mixtape and her 2012 debut album ‘The Idea Of Beautiful’, she came into the fore under super-producer 9th wonder tutelage. A lot of attention towards her was after her appearance of Kendrick Lamar’s critically acclaimed album “To Pimp A Butterfly” then followed her signing as one of Jay Z’s Roc Nation’s member, but of course still part of 9th Wonder’s Jamla.

That is part-summary story of Rapsody a gifted artist whose socially conscious, unique, motivational, and inspiring music has earned her a lot of fans and admirers. The 10-track EP which is her first release since her Roc Nation signing and features the likes of; Ab-Soul, Anderson .Paak, Moonchild and Raphael Saadiq, and production from 9th Wonder-read JamRoc.

‘Crown’ tackles a lot of issues in thought provoking lyrics, from the rapper’s personal perspective, achievements, dreams, politics to the more central issues for most Americans like; race and police shootings targeting blacks. The EP samples sounds from the likes of Public Enemy with a tinged soul embrace bringing life to the whole concept.
