HBO has made it official, Game of Thrones, one of the most popular fantasy drama series will return in 2017,

for the seventh season but only with 7 episodes.

The Executive producers Weiss and Benioff had hinted at ending the show with 13 episodes which would see season seven having 7 episodes and the last season likely to show in 2018 running only 6 episodes.

The show which has been carrying 10 episodes per season for the past 6 seasons, will probably have its return date pushed, due to the weather conditions to allow for the shoot which will largely be based on ‘grim, grey weather’. In an interview with UCF Unfiltered Podcast the show’s executive producer Dann Weiss was said “We’re starting a little bit later because, at the end of this season, winter is here, and that means that sunny weather doesn’t really serve our purposes anymore,”

HBO has also announced at least three locations that the show will be shot at; Northern Ireland, Iceland and Spain. Game Of Thrones production usually begins in July. The producers have tapped the talents of Alan Taylor, Jeremy Podeswa, Mark Mylod, and Matt Shakman for the upcoming season of the show which got 23 nominations for the Emmys.

The record breaking show ran with an average 23 million viewers for season 6.
